Depression is at the center of the first major mental health meeting in Catalonia after the pandemic

  • ‘Parlem de depression’ will be held this Tuesday, December 13 at 6:00 p.m. at Pati Llimona in Barcelona and will bring together specialists from different fields and patient testimonials

the Barcelona City Hall will organize, in collaboration with the production company Broadcaster, the first major dialogue on depressive disorder after the covid-19 pandemic. The meeting, which will feature voices and testimonies from different fields, will take place the next Tuesday, December 13 at 6:00 p.m. at the Pati Llimona Civic Center (Regomir Street, 3).

The meeting will take place under the slogan “Talk About Depression” and it will collect first-hand testimonies (i.e. from people who suffer or have suffered from this disease), as well as that of different organizations involved in the fight for mental health. all together at the table discuss how depression is experienced and what treatment services a city of Barcelona offers.

the mayor Ada Colau will open the event. Barcelona is the first municipality to have a state-level mental health plan. In addition, at the beginning of the act, an audiovisual will be projected on the depression in the city produced by the production company Broadcaster, which is working on a greatest documentary (“Anhedònia: dins la depressió”).

The meeting will bring together entities such as Mental Health Catalonia or Obertament Catalunya, municipal and Generalitat representatives, as well as psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses and members of the Petita i Mitjana (Pimec) society.

The objective of this first major dialogue in Barcelona on depression is transform and consolidate this experience in a pattern to get a global and multidisciplinary approach mental health issues.
