Netflix will be the streaming home for a new DreamWorks Animation film, orion and darknesswhich will be released in 2024. Here’s what you need to know.
This is the second DreamWorks Animation film to stream exclusively on Netflix, the first being Trollhunters: Rise of the Titansreleased in 2021. Of course, Netflix in the US currently offers all DreamWorks theatrical movies in the first window.
The film has been in the works at DreamWorks Animation for the past two years, with the book first picked up by the acclaimed studio in the mid-2010s as early as 2015. It was first announced and attached to Netflix during the panel. from DreamWorks at the Annecy Film Festival.

Who’s behind orion and darkness?
industry veteran Sean Charmatz is directing the film, who has worked on a number of projects over the years, but this marks his directorial debut. Previous projects Charmatz has worked on include the lego movie 2, from Nickelodeon Sponge Bob Square Pants, and trolls.
charlie kaufman is behind the script for the new movie. Kaufman is best known for writing about critically acclaimed films like Eternal glow of the mind without memories, Being John Malkovich, and more recently for Netflix, I’m thinking of ending things.

lloyd taylor and brandon sawyer he worked on additional script material. Peter McCown serves as a producer on the project, with walt dohrn He is listed as executive producer.
The film’s animation is handled by Mikros Animation studios in Paris and Bangalore.
What is the story of orion and darkness?
The story is adapted from the best-selling 40-page illustrated book. orion and darkness by author and illustrator Emma Yarlett published May 2014. The author is also behind the books as bites, dragon stall, poppy Pickle, and It’s mine.

Netflix has provided an official synopsis for the new animated feature film, which appears to be true to the book it’s based on:
“Orion is a lot like your average elementary school kid: shy, modest, harboring a secret crush. But beneath his seemingly normal exterior, Orion is a ball of adolescent anxiety, completely consumed by irrational fears of bees, dogs, the ocean, cell phone waves, killer clowns, and even falling off a cliff. But of all his fears, what he fears the most is what he faces every night: the dark. So when the literal embodiment of his worst fear pays a visit, Dark takes Orion on a roller coaster ride around the world to prove there’s nothing to fear at night.
As the unlikely couple grow closer, Orion must decide if he can learn to accept the unknown: stop letting fear control his life and finally embrace the joy of living.

Who is in the voice cast for orion and darkness?
Two actors have lined up for the project thus far, voicing the two main characters.
- jacob tremblay Canadian actor best known for playing and starring in such mosaics as Wonder, good boys, Lukeand The little Mermaid, will give voice to Orion.
- paul walter hauser will voice Dark in the film. He is best known for his role on Netflix. cobra kaiplaying Raymond ‘Stingray’ Porter, he also starred in movies like me, tony, blackKkKlansmanand richard jewel.
