A ground crew from the fire department and agents from the Grup d’Actuacions Especials have rescued “safe and sound” a man “sunk” in the mud on the shore of the Sau reservoir, just 15 days after another woman was also injured. to be extracted from the Riudecanyes reservoir (Tarragona).
Sau, which is at 4.26% of its capacity, has become a pole of attraction for visitors. For this reason, the Consorci de l’Espai Natural de les Guilleries-Savassona have wanted to insist that it is “very dangerous to approach the shore” due to the accumulated mud, while recalling that the use of drones is regulated and limited by conservation reasons.
Warning signs
In fact, the Catalan Water Agency has placed signs prohibiting passage to the edge of the reservoir for safety reasons, since it is unstable terrain. Low water levels can cause the risk of entrapment and drowning due to the presence of tusks and limousines. Additionally, cold water and variable depth increase the risk of accidents. In fact, Firefighters and GRAE have already had to rescue more than one person trapped in the mud.
“The surface of the reservoir is irregular and can make those who approach it slip – the entity states -. Likewise, in the event of rain, the level could vary quickly.” In addition, they say from the natural space, there may also be hidden risks under the surface of the water, such as currents, branches and hidden structures that can become traps.
Regulated drones
The Natural Space regulates the use of drones and for their use it is necessary to request a mandatory report from the Consortium. In this sense, it must be taken into account that favorable information is only provided in those cases in which the use of drones meets the objectives of the Special Plan for the Protection of the Guilleries-Savassona Natural Area.
