Florida Gators release top recruit from national letter of intent following NIL deal issue: report

The Florida Gators granted Jaden Rashada, a highly touted quarterback recruit, his release from his National Letter of Intent (LOI) three days after he requested it.

The 247 Sports No. 7 quarterback from the class of 2023 filed for his release from his LOI Tuesday after a $13 million report treatment of name, image and likeness he fell.

The Pittsburgh, Calif., quarterback did not sign up for Florida last week, raising red flags that his future in Gainesville was in doubt.

Rashada changed her miami pledge to Florida in November, giving head coach Billy Napier a major recruit heading into his second season in Gainesville.

But Rashada’s commitment hinged on a four-year, $13 million NIL contract she signed with the Gator Collective, according to The Associated Press.

On December 7, Rashada reportedly received a letter from the head of the Gator Collective. wanting to break the dealaccording to a report in The Athletic.

The Gator Collective is a “fan club that connects athletes with fans and allows them to get compensation by name, image and likeness.”

While the reasons why the deal fell apart are unclear, the AP reported that not all financial backers were aware the deal had gone from around $5 million to more than $13 million.

Rashada made official visits to LSU, Texas A&M, and Ole Miss to accompany her visits to Miami and Florida.
