by It’s been a rough sled for New York Yankees slugger Giancarlo Stanton since coming off the disabled list, and the fans in the Bronx are letting him know.
Fans booing their own players at Yankee Stadium aren’t new, and Stanton knows it. The first season of him in pinstripes didn’t go as planned, and with high expectations unfulfilled, he heard it from the Yankee faithful.
Fast forward to today, where he hit .121/.215/.241 with two home runs and three RBIs in 17 games, Stanton isn’t denying that he deserves the boos.

But he does not stop at them.
“I have work to do,” he said. Bob Klapisch of NJ.com.
“Overall, I have a good mentality, but at the same time (baseball) is what I work at, it’s what I do. It hasn’t been a pleasant stretch.”
Stanton’s complete stats this season are .191/.252/.391 with six home runs and 14 RBIs in 30 games. As has been the case throughout his career, the time he spent on IL has hampered his production.
This time, it was a hamstring strain that landed him on the roster and sidelined him for a month and a half.

With Aaron Judge out with a torn ligament in his toe after crashing into the Dodger Stadium fence, the Yankees have been reeling offensively. They were hoping someone like Stanton could take the 2022 MVP spot.
While that may be too much to ask, Stanton has an MVP under his belt and remains a formidable force at the plate … when he’s hitting well.
But maybe a two-game hitting streak over the weekend can turn Stanton’s bat around. Either way, he’s not letting the fans get into his head.

“Booing is the least of my worries,” he said. “I have more things to worry about than that. And once I take care of that, everything else will take care of itself.”
