As part of his presidential tour, Javier Milei visited the Wailing Wall. The President placed his hands on the place, prayed and broke down in tears. He had to be assisted by his companions.

Upon his arrival at the Western Wall, Milei was greeted by Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz. The libertarian, Catholic but practicing Judaism, participated in a traditional ceremony there: wearing the kippah, He left a message, placed his hands and forehead on the wall and prayed.

He shook the hand of Axel Wahnish, his spiritual reference and Argentine ambassador to Israel, who accompanied him at the ceremony. Wahnish was the first to break down and cry uncontrollably.. He was seen putting his other hand to his face and shaking, rueful.

It took about a minute, after which Milei turned around and, with a red face, looked excited. With Wahnish they consoled each other with a big hug. Entwined, they kissed the Wailing Wall together.

After greeting Argentines who arrived at the scene from a distance, the president took a few seconds to rest your two hands on the wall and pray alone.

As advanced Clarion, the visit to the wall was a promise from Milei. She formulated it two years ago, when she began to give rein to her dream of reaching the Casa Rosada, despite the fact that even within La Libertad she moved forward and garnered resistance.

The Western Wall or Wailing Wall is a vestige of the temple that the Romans destroyed in the year 70. It is the holiest place where Jews can pray.

Also, the President participated in the candle lighting in Jerusalem in commemoration of those who died in the terrorist attacks of October 7, 2023, and toured the Kotel Tunnels.

Carrió’s reaction and how Milei’s agenda continues on her tour

The one who reacted quickly to Milei’s visit to the wall was Elisa Carrió.

The founder of the Civic Coalition, a critic of the president, was “happy” for the experience that the President is going through. And, before clarifying that she has been traveling since “the year 2000,” she suggested: “I should also go to the church of the crucifixion and who remembers that God is Love”.

Early on, Milei announced that he will move the Argentine embassy to that city. This is a diplomatic measure with strong repercussions: it recognizes Jerusalem as the Israeli capital and thus ignores that it could be part of another State.

In addition to recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, Milei is preparing another key initiative for Argentine diplomacy in the Middle East. This is the inclusion of Hamas in the Registry of Persons and Entities linked to acts of Terrorism (RePET), an old claim of the Jewish community in Argentina.

The decree must be published in the Official Gazette, although it must first be reviewed by the ministries of Security and Justice, in addition to the Federal Intelligence Agency. The Ministry of Defense is also involved.
