Jets legend Darrelle Revis reveals why he has issues with fellow team icon

The two best defensemen to ever play for the New York Jets will be enshrined together in the Pro Football Hall of Fame later this year, but it will be a little awkward.

Darrelle Revis and Joe Klecko have had a bit of a surprising back and forth in recent days, but Revis says it stems from a meeting the two had right around the time they were announced to arrive at the Hall.

Revis admitted it was difficult for him and Klecko to come together around the Super Bowl and the NFL honors show in Arizona in February, but the seven-time Pro Bowl cornerback says Klecko soiled him.

Revis says he was unable to “connect via text” with Klecko.

“First of all, Joe and I have an age difference. We really don’t know each other very well…” Revis said. ESPN’s Jake Asman. “We sat down and did an interview with Sirius Radio. And yeah, I said some great things, and I still stand by them… I think around the time of the Super Bowl, I remember Joe reaching out to me via text. And because I’m between trips, we couldn’t connect via text. And I told him I’d see him at the Super Bowl.”

But according to Revis, Klecko “yelled” at Revis for dodging him.

“The back story is that he basically tried to call me in front of a bunch of Pro Football Hall of Fame personnel because I didn’t respond to his text in a sense. I didn’t really appreciate that,” Revis said. .

The drama between the two surprises Jets fans, especially considering the fact that Klecko praised Revis on the Asman show earlier in the week.

“I told him [Revis] when we were at the Super Bowl and I said, ‘This is going to be Western New York for a day,'” Klecko told Asman. “We have to sit down afterwards, and Darrelle doesn’t say much, but the first comment we had , we were doing Sirius Radio, and he said, “It’s really great that Joe and I, who are the two best defensive players to ever play for the Jets, are together.”

Perhaps Klecko saying that Revis “doesn’t say much” made him angry, because Revis saw the comment and wasn’t thrilled.

“I don’t talk to people I don’t know very well. And we don’t talk based on you saying you were jealous of my Super Bowl success. My mindset is clearly that I’m at the top of that list as the best ever, but As gentlemen, I decided to say something cool for a headline,” revis tweeted.

Revis said he “absolutely” understands why Jet’s fans were confused by Revis’ angry response, but is confident the two can squash any issues they have before their induction into Canton on Aug. 3.

“Everything can be rectified. We can take this lightly in a number of ways… We’re both going in, I think the Jet nation should be excited, we also have the Hall of Fame Game. It’s a celebration for everyone.” We should have a good time, we should all enjoy it.”
