La Salernitana announced this Sunday the dismissal of the Italian Filipo ‘Pippo’ Inzaghi as coach of the first team after 16 games in which he was only able to win two of them, which leaves the Granota bottom team in a very delicate situation.
“La Salernitana announces that Filippo Inzaghi has been relieved of his duties as first team coach. While thanking him for his dedication to his work, the club wishes the coach the best of luck in his professional career,” the club announced.
With the eldest of the Inzaghi brothers as coach, who came to the bench on October 10, Salernitana recorded two wins, 4 draws and 10 losses in 16 Serie A games. A situation radically different from the one experienced by Simone, coach of an Inter that is leading at an unstoppable pace.
This Friday’s defeat at home against Empoli (1-3) was the sentence of the former footballer, whose career as a coach is not being as prolific as the one he had as a player, in which he won two Champions Leagues.
Those from Salerno (south) immediately announced the Italian Fabio Liverani as a substitute until the end of the season. The Roman coach has not trained since December 2022, when he was fired from Cagliari.
La Salernitana is in a critical situation: it is bottom with 13 points, 7 away from safety, set by a Udinese team that still has one game less
