Luis Fernando Fábregas López: Transforming the World with Research and Innovation

For the first time, the Recognition for his outstanding contribution, as Health Manager, was awarded to Luis Fernando Fábregas López for the design and implementation of the Georeferencing Technological Platform for monitoring and monitoring of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Microsoft Teams, the MEDICOLOMBIA Recognition Ceremony was developed in which the best research work is awarded to the medical community. And it could not be for less, it was a space to highlight the search to expand the frontiers of knowledge, in the midst of the Covid-19 health emergency.

Said contest began with the words of Dr. Hernán Velandia González, Director of the MEDICOLOMBIA Foundation, the organizing entity of the ceremony, who congratulated the winner and provided a brief review of the work carried out by the winner in the Research category and his contribution at this time of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Then, Dr. Alexandra Betancourt Mateus, Secretary of the Research Evaluation Committee, highlighted “a year of very hard work, with a high emotional impact due to the pandemic that took the world by surprise, with a lack of knowledge of health emergency management protocols that is present at this moment”.

To which he added: “this is how things are recognized, the commitment, the responsibility in public management of this outstanding contribution, as Health Manager, in the design and implementation of the Technological Platform for Georeferencing of Follow-up and Monitoring of the pandemic Covid-19, which is essential to make visible both in the health sector and in society”.

Dr. Luis Fernando Fábregas López expressed: “It is a great honor for me to receive this special recognition, I am humbly grateful to the team that selected me for this award. Thanks to MEDICOLOMBIA that links knowledge, innovation and technology that lead us to articulate the solution to real problems and its effective adoption with the community”.

Likewise, he added: “We use technological tools to georeference the neighborhoods with the highest incidence and number of cases of COVID-19. We address the problem comprehensively, intensifying work to mitigate the spread of this disease by advancing epidemiological blockade actions and preventing the appearance of new cases.”

MEDICOLOMBIA awards this recognition in three categories: 1. Research 2. Social Work and 3. Communication for Health Promotion and Prevention. In 2019, this recognition was given to Dr. Marc Edy Pierre, Hemato-oncologist for his research work on ovarian cancer.
