Mariano Cúneo Libarona stated this Tuesday that he is working on a “major reform” of the Penal Code but it has not yet submitted its laws to Congress. In that direction, the Minister of Justice admitted that it is difficult for him to advance the project because he had to assume a role of “administrator” due to the enormous number of employees that he found in his portfolio.

“The great reform of the Penal Code comes on my account. It is being worked on these days, it is the only thing I know how to do. my laws they will go individually separatelyThey are not yet in Congress,” he stated in an interview he gave on TN.

Furthermore, he assured: “I cannot advance my bill because I currently have a ministry, let’s call it a company, with 5,500 employees, with many organizations inside.” “I became an administratorr,” he described.

“Of course the labor law will be respected, no one who does not belong will be fired. But if we are going to eliminate those who do not workcontrol effective work and annular organizations that do not work,” he warned.

The minister stated that one of his objectives is “shrink the state” to focus on your priorities. “What I want is, first, appoint judges. There can’t be that many vacancies. Then, I want to implement the federal adversarial system, which is effective, with faster deadlines. and I also want trial by jury”he continued.

Along these lines, he added that he intends to “establish a legal system, novel and unprecedented, in accordance with world standards.” “Jujuy and Salta, where it already works, is performing very well. “We are trying to implement it in many other provinces,” he commented.

The night before its presentation in Congress, where the treatment of Javier Milei’s omnibus project will begin, Cúneo Libarona separated the new regulations that it is preparing from those that will surely be part of its presentation in Deputies this Tuesday. As he indicated, in the latter, “at the initiative of the Minister (of Security) Patricia Bullrich, he targeted two major aspects.”

“One is to establish the limit between what is permitted, social protest, the strike, and what is criminal, which is the threat, damage and roadblocks. Special emphasis was placed on that. And two, the protection of the security forces who fell into disgrace, were abandoned and are so attacked and beaten,” he explained.

The future of INADI: “Organize it so that it is effective”

Cúneo Libarona also criticized the number of employees that INADI has and assured that, in addition to implementing a reduction in staff, it will seek to “centralize” the management of the organization and transfer its activity to the former ESMA.

“We are going to organize the INADI to make it effective“, he claimed. Then, he made a comparison: “INADI has 400 employees in the Federal Capital. All the Investigative Justice of the Talcahuano 550 building has less.” “Some investigate all major crimes in the Federal Capital and the others study nothing more than discrimination,” he contrasted.

In that sense, he indicated: “In the interior there are INADI subsidiaries, branches. I I’m going to centralize everything, with existing communications.. With effective lawyers to guide victims of discrimination, who They are going to go to the (ex)ESMA. “I’m going to take out buildings that sell a lot of money for rent and I have 14 hectares to work on in a good place of my own.”

“We have to shrink the State. It’s like one’s house bill. I can’t spend more than I don’t have. “I have to have income for what I want,” she insisted.

In its article 348, the omnibus project proposes to repeal the law that governs INADI, the National Institute against Discrimination, Xenophobia and Racism.
