While the debate in Deputies of the omnibus law that President Javier Milei sent to Congress progresses and the tension between the ruling party and the opposition escalates, the governor of Santa Fe, Maximiliano Pullaro, warned that will not accompany the Executive’s project if withholdings are maintained to field. This was stated this Saturday, with a long statement, hours after the President agreed to modify some points of the omnibus law and maintained the chapter on agricultural withholdings.

The provincial leader questioned the Government, considering that it made a mistake by saying “a foot on the head of those who produce“.

I am not going to support the increase in withholdings. The government is right in ending the deficit and waste of the past, but it repeats the mistake by putting a foot on the heads of those who produce, who are the subject of the change that the country needs,” said Pullaro in a text that he published in social network

He complained to the ruling party “stop the ball” and take “your time” necessary to discuss each issue and how it impacts each province and each sector.

“The increase in withholdings proposed in the Omnibus Law would only add less than 400 million dollars to what the National Government is collecting but with the risk of losing those current markets and going to collect 0“Pullaro questioned.

Along the same lines, he added: “Adding taxes to production is one less possibility of investment to generate employment, add added value, incorporate technology. In short, there are fewer opportunities to work in the Argentina of the future.”

The public release of the Santa Fe president comes the day after an agreement between the Executive and a sector of the opposition to make a series of modifications to the law is confirmed. It was the blocks of the PRO, the UCR and We Make the Federal Coalition that They negotiated with the ruling party to accompany the project.

Among the most important points of the document that they sent to the opposition benches with the modifications, is the limit on the delegated powers of Javier Milei from four to two years; zero withholdings to regional economies; and that YPF cannot be privatized.

The three blocks that would accompany the official project are internally evaluating the listed modifications, to define if it is necessary to request others. And they expect the formal texts of the articles that had adjustments on Sunday or Monday at the latest.

The Government insists on its intention that the session to vote on the omnibus law be held before the strike that the CGT launched for next Wednesday.

His Minister of Productive Development, Gustavo Puccini, spoke along the same lines as Pullaro, who assured that they will defend “those who produce and generate employment.”

“The retentions They are harmful taxes and can leave us out of international markets.. We will lobby the national government to find an alternative that solves the fiscal deficit and takes care of those who produce,” he noted.

The governor of Córdoba also rejects the withholdings

Like Santa Fe, Córdoba is another of the provinces that is part of the productive core of the Argentine countryside and this Saturday its governor, Martín Llaryora, once again ratified his rejection of withholdings.

This Saturday, the Cordoba president held meetings with representatives of the livestock industry in the province and repeated his rejection of the withholding scheme promoted by the national government.

“Within the framework of the treatment of the Omnibus Law project that is being promoted in Congress, I ratified to the Córdoba producers our rejection of aliquots and I reiterated the importance of protecting industries that generate employment and added value to primary production,” he highlighted through the X social network.
