Maximiliano Pullaro warned that the omnibus law does not support if the increase in withholdings to the countryside continues

While the debate in Deputies of the omnibus law that President Javier Milei sent to Congress progresses and the tension between the ruling party and the opposition escalates, the governor of Santa Fe, Maximiliano Pullaro, warned that will not accompany the Executive’s project if withholdings are maintained to field. This was stated this Saturday, with a long statement, hours after the President agreed to modify some points of the omnibus law and maintained the chapter on agricultural withholdings.

The provincial leader questioned the Government, considering that it made a mistake by saying “a foot on the head of those who produce“.

“I am not going to support the increase in withholdings. The government is right in ending the deficit and waste of the past, but it repeats the mistake by putting a foot on the heads of those who produce, who are the subject of the change that the country needs,” said Pullaro in a text that he published in social network

He complained to the ruling party “stop the ball” and take “your time” necessary to discuss each issue and how it impacts each province and each sector.

“The increase in withholdings proposed in the Omnibus Law would only add less than 400 million dollars to what the National Government is collecting but with the risk of losing those current markets and going to collect 0“Pullaro questioned.

Along the same lines, he added: “Adding taxes to production is one less possibility of investment to generate employment, add added value, incorporate technology. In short, there are fewer opportunities to work in the Argentina of the future.”

The public release of the Santa Fe president comes the day after an agreement between the Executive and a sector of the opposition to make a series of modifications to the law is confirmed. The Government insists on its intention that the session to vote on the omnibus law be held before the strike that the CGT launched for next Wednesday.

His Minister of Productive Development, Gustavo Puccini, spoke along the same lines as Pullaro, who assured that they will defend “those who produce and generate employment.”
