Netflix @ Anime Expo 2023: All Show and Movie Announcements

The annual Anime Expo (AX2023) just took place, and Netflix unveiled a ton of new information about its upcoming anime series and movies. We have the first images, release dates, and the announcement of a new anime series. Here’s everything that was announced (so far).

Taking place in Los Angeles, Anime Expo is an annual convention dubbed “North America’s Largest Anime Convention” featuring panels and booths from some of the world’s biggest names in the genre as well as titles. promising.

Netflix hosted an hour-long panel on the future of its slate with a bunch of titles (preliminary list of those below).

What time will the Netflix Anime Panel take place at AX2023?

This is the time the panel will take place:

  • 3:15 p.m. Pacific Time
  • 18:15 EST
  • 23:15 BST
  • 03:45 a.m.

It is unclear if the panel will be broadcast live to the general public, however Netflix has stated that all new videos will be added to Japanese Netflix YouTube account.

One of the first announcements for Anime Expo 2023 is a new series from Studio Trigger, best known for little witch academy, kill the prey, and the critically acclaimed, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.

A new stop-motion animated series set in the world of Pokémon was announced earlier this year. At Anime Expo, we got some new footage plus a December 2023 release window.

The new series tells the story of a hotel concierge named Haru, who works at a resort only for Pokémon and the guests who come to visit. No plays the role of Haru.

Already announced to arrive in 2024, we got our first look at the new character design illustrations for the fourth and final season.


PLUTO

coming to netflix: October 26th

Masao Maruyama unveiled the upcoming and highly-anticipated PLUTO manga adaptation, which is now confirmed to hit Netflix in late October 2023, as we previously reported.

Netflix also provided an updated synopsis and a new trailer (embedded below) for the new series:

“A murder occurs in an ordered world where robots cannot kill humans.

Europol’s robotic investigator Gesicht takes on the case, but the mystery deepens when he finds no trace of a human being at the crime scene.

As he searches for the truth, Gesicht discovers the most evil manifestation of hate history has ever seen, one that is hell-bent on bringing destruction to the world…”

Some of the voice actors who will appear in the upcoming series were also confirmed during Anime Expo 2023.

Among the names that lent their voices are:

  • hiroki yasumoto like Mont Blanc
  • Koichi Yamadera as North No. 2
  • Hidenobu Kiuchi like brando
  • Rikiya Koyama like hercules
  • Mamoru Miyano as epsilon
  • Toshihiko-Seki like pluto


Zom 100: Wish List of the Dead

Netflix US will be the streaming home for VIZ Media’s new anime series in July 2023, and Netflix globally will stream the new live-action adaptation starting August 3.

Eiji Akaso and Kotaro Takata presented a new trailer for the live-action film at the panel, as well as a new synopsis:

“Akira Tendo (Eiji Akaso) works at a sweatshop where he endures long hours and harassment from his boss. Spending more days feeling dead than alive, he wakes up to find that his town has been devastated and taken over by zombies and he is suddenly excited at the prospect of not having to go to the office anymore. Realizing that he would rather be eaten by zombies if he can’t do what he wants, Akira makes a list of 100 things he wants to do before he becomes a zombie. What will become of him as he happily lives his life in the middle of a zombie apocalypse?! Get ready for this zombie comedy for anyone stressed out by modern society!”


One piece (live action)

No new footage from the live-action series was shown at AX2023, but we did get two snippets of information.

First of all, the new series toys/action figures were teased for the release of SHFiguarts and World Collectable Figure.

Second, at the Netflix panel, it was confirmed that the voice actors for the anime would provide the Japanese dub for the upcoming live-action series that will premiere on August 31, 2023.

  • Usopp – Kappei Yamaguchi
  • Sanji Hiroaki Hirata

“I have been voicing Luffy for over 23 years and I think everyone has a little bit of Luffy in their heart. Iñaki, who plays Luffy in this live-action series, is so funny and light-hearted that he really makes a perfect Luffy! I’m very happy to be able to voice Luffy in this adaptation as well. ONE PIECE is a story whose words and images can resonate with you in different ways depending on your situation or perspective at any given time, allowing for new discoveries all the time. And of course, nothing would bring me greater joy than if people who have never experienced ONE PIECE can become part of the family from this show,” said Mayumi Tanaka.
