Ricardo Monner Sans, one of the lawyers who brought forward the complaint in the emblematic case for the sale of weapons to Ecuador and Croatia during Menemism, died at the age of 87 after an extensive career investigating corruption cases.

Monner Sans, president of the Civil Anti-Corruption Association, had also participated in complaints against Kirchnerism, such as the Ciccone case that affected former vice president Amado Boudou.

His death sent the atmosphere into mourning., where several colleagues and public figures came out to say goodbye to him. Monner Sans was the son of a former dean of the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters at the UBA and a history professor. He studied at the Colegio Nacional Buenos Aires and then at the UBA Law School.

Among his passions was San Lorenzo de Almagro, the team he was a fan of. Years later his son, Ramiro, would be a candidate for president of the club.

One of the most important cases was the one that investigated arms trafficking to Ecuador and Croatia in 1995, which was born from an investigation by journalist Daniel Santoro in Clarion and that splashed Menemism.

It involved the smuggling of more than 6.5 tons of weapons and ammunition to Ecuador and Croatia. who were at war with Peru and Serbia at the time, respectively. Former federal judge Jorge Urso ordered preventive detention in 2001, requested by prosecutor Carlos Stornelli. In November 1995, an explosion occurred at the Río Tercero military factory, killing 7 people, wounding others, and destroying several neighborhoods in the city.

Monner Sans also investigated irregularities in Pami between 1992 and 1994. First during the management of Matilde Svatetz de Menéndez and then Víctor Alderete.

Already during Kirchnerism, he investigated the contracts of the Ministry of Production with K actors, or the trips of Hugo Moyano and his people to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. But one of the most notable complaints was against former vice president Amado Boudou for the sale of the former Ciccone Calcografía.

Boudou was investigated for illicit enrichment and for negotiations incompatible with the public service, within the framework of the procedure that was instituted to lift the bankruptcy requested by the State against the Ciccone company.
