to the 89 yearsthe former governor of The Pampa, Ruben Hugo Marinwho was also elected national senator, deputy and became president of the Justicialista Party in 2001.
The Pampas press reported that Marín was admitted to the Faerac Clinic due to pneumonia.
The leader of Pampean Peronism came to power in the province for the first time in 1991 and achieved three re-elections. He remained in power until 2003. In the middle of his first term he was a conventional constituent for the constitutional reform of 1994.
In 2003, the year in which Néstor Kirchner was elected president, Marín entered the Senate of the Nation by popular vote, where he remained until 2009 and played an important role in the vote on Resolution 125 that increased withholdings for the countryside.
Away from power, in 2012 he underwent surgery for lung cancer. Although he remained in a secondary role in the Pampas PJ, in 2018 he was elected Coordinator of the Political Action Table of the National Justicialist Party.
While he was a national senator and before the rural conflict over Resolution 125, Marín tried to return to power in La Pampa but lost the internal elections. In 2007 he ran as a candidate for governor but was defeated by Oscar Jorge, the candidate of then-governor Carlos Verna.
Today, Marín’s daughter, Varinia “Lichi” Marín is a national representative for Unión por la Patria.
