Rubén Marín, the former governor of La Pampa who came to preside over the Justicialista Party, died


to the 89 yearsthe former governor of The Pampa, Ruben Hugo Marinwho was also elected national senator, deputy and became president of the Justicialista Party in 2001.

The Pampas press reported that Marín was admitted to the Faerac Clinic due to pneumonia.

The leader of Pampean Peronism came to power in the province for the first time in 1991 and achieved three re-elections. He remained in power until 2003. In the middle of his first term he was a conventional constituent for the constitutional reform of 1994.

In 2003, the year in which Néstor Kirchner was elected president, Marín entered the Senate of the Nation by popular vote, where he remained until 2009 and played an important role in the vote on Resolution 125 that increased withholdings for the countryside.

Away from power, in 2012 he underwent surgery for lung cancer. Although he remained in a secondary role in the Pampas PJ, in 2018 he was elected Coordinator of the Political Action Table of the National Justicialist Party.

While he was a national senator and before the rural conflict over Resolution 125, Marín tried to return to power in La Pampa but lost the internal elections. In 2007 he ran as a candidate for governor but was defeated by Oscar Jorge, the candidate of then-governor Carlos Verna.

Today, Marín’s daughter, Varinia “Lichi” Marín is a national representative for Unión por la Patria.

“Ruben Hugo Marín has passed away. Governor, Deputy and National Senator, President of the Justicialist Party, but mainly a Leader. Thank you for your militancy, for your legacy, for your defense of La Pampa!”, the current Peronist governor of La Pampa, Sergio Ziliotto.

“Thank you Rubén for teaching us to love, be a soldier and defend Peronism! See you Always Companion!” he added.

The mayor of Esteban Echeverría, Fernando Gray, also said goodbye to him on social networks: “I deeply regret the death of my beloved colleague Rubén Marín, former governor of La Pampa and a historic leader of Peronism. With a deep vocation, he always advocated tirelessly for the unity of the movement national and the federal development of our Nation. I send my heartfelt affection to his loved ones and to Pampean Peronism.”

The national senator of the UCR for La Pampa, Daniel Kroneberger, also fired him: “I have great memories of Rubén Marín, four-time governor of La Pampa; a born political leader, defender of his ideas and with whom I had a great bond, lasting for many years. “I accompany his children, wife and affections in this difficult moment. Strength to his loved ones and see you always.”
