The “conselleria” presents the Global Emergency Plan of Catalonia 2022-23 at a time when the pressure of the toilets increases with the strike called in January
The Ministry of Health of Catalonia will invest 45 million euros to strengthen primary schools, hospitals and social health centers during the winter, with the possibility of hire professionals for the colder months and more respiratory viruses.
The “Minister of Health”, Manel Balcells, and the Secretary of Public Health, Carmen Cabezas, presented this Tuesday at the CUAP Barracks in Barcelona on actions to improve response of the sanitary network to the increase in demand during the winter period, when pressure from the unions increased with the strike launched on 25 and 26 January.
Balcells pointed out that this Integral Emergency Plan of Catalonia 2022-23 (PIUC) It focuses above all on giving “the necessary importance” to primary care (which also assists in emergencies) at the gates of a winter when we expect a progression of the flu, with a peak around Christmas, and also covid, probably later.
“We make a extra effort in primary care and we have equaled him in hospital care during a season that promises to be complicated”, underlined the ‘advisor’.
He detailed that Salut multiplies by five the resources of the previous winter plan for the primary, increasing from 3.6 to 16 million. Balcells has ensured that this endowment is equivalent “on average one doctor, one nurse and one administrator per primary school”.
Depending on the situation of each centre, you may choose to allocate these resources to hire staff for the four winter months or to redistribute the workforce.
However, at a time of general lack of personnel in the market, andmostly doctors, Balcells did not specify how many temporary contracts would be achieved, because it is something that has been left in the hands of the autonomy of each center.
The new winter plan also allocates 16 million euros for hospital care and three million for socio-sanitary care.
Additionally, Hi is considering a plan to additional contingency of 10 million euros: 8 million would be used to cover, if necessary, increases in hospital, socio-sanitary, mental health and auxiliary resources, and the other 2 million to increase medical transport.
The total amount of PIUC 2022-23 is 45 million euros, which represents a increase of 31 million euros compared to the previous plan.
