The last month of 2022 will bring big new movies to the service and that includes big blockbusters you’ve only been able to see in theaters up to this point. Here are our top eight picks for the movies you must see in December 2022.
This preview will be divided into two halves. We’ll first cover our most anticipated global Netflix Originals coming in December 2022 and then move on to four licensed titles coming specifically to Netflix in the US. Availability in other regions for these licensed titles will vary.

Crystal Onion: A Knives Out Mystery
Coming to Netflix: December 23th

Netflix’s flashy sequel knives out is in theaters over Thanksgiving weekend, but if you plan on watching it on Netflix, you’ll have to wait until December 23.
Receiving rave reviews (including one from us), the sequel will undoubtedly be one of the biggest Netflix movies of all time and will see the return of Rian Johnson in the director’s chair and Daniel Craig.
In the second entry, you’ll follow world-renowned detective Benoit Blanc as he heads to Greece to peel away the layers of a mystery surrounding a tech billionaire and his eclectic group of friends.
Pinocchio by Guillermo del Toro
Coming to Netflix: December 9
You are probably very familiar with the story of Pinocchio. Still, we urge you to ditch any preconceived notions for this reimagined stop-motion animated feature from Oscar-winning filmmaker Guillermo del Toro.
In the film, you will see a father’s wish come true and he magically brings to life a wooden boy in Italy, giving him the opportunity to care for the child.
Among the voices you’ll hear throughout the nearly 2-hour epic are Gregory Mann, Ewan McGregor, Ron Perlman, Finn Wolfhard, Cate Blanchett, Tim Blake Nelson, and Tilda Swinton.

Coming to Netflix: December 30
Will Noah Baumbach be able to do the impossible by writing and directing original material previously considered unadaptable? We will know at the end of December.
It is based on the book by Don DeLillo and sees a seemingly ordinary family dealing with an uncertain reality.
Some behind-the-scenes controversy and mixed reviews will mean this movie probably won’t hit the spot for everyone, but with the talent in front of and behind the camera, it’s certainly a movie to watch.
Scrooge: A Christmas Carol

Netflix’s animated Christmas movies have been spectacular in years past, with klaus being one of the best movies that Netflix has released. The new animated title that adapts the well-known tale by Charles Dickens hopes to continue that trend at the beginning of the month.
From director Stephen Donnelly, the film is set on Christmas Eve and sees Ebenezer Scrooge facing a potentially bleak future as he returns to the past and hopefully right his wrongs.

Bullet train (2022)

Brad Pitt’s summer epic is coming to Netflix US as part of the deal with Sony. Bullet train.
The action comedy is about a down-on-his-luck assassin who commits to one last job, but becomes embroiled in a plot that pits him against many other assassins on a speeding train.
The film is based on the novel by Kōtarō Isaka, with whom Netflix has partnered to adapt rocking monsterwhich will star Selma Hayek Pinault and Anne Hathaway.
emily the criminal (2022)
Coming to Netflix: December 7th
Making its SVOD debut this December exclusively on Netflix is Emily the Criminal, the well-reviewed crime drama starring Aubrey Plaza.
This is what you can expect from the film directed by John Patton Ford:
Saddled with student debt and locked out of the job market due to a minor criminal record, Emily finds herself embroiled in a credit card scam that draws her into the Los Angeles criminal underworld, ultimately leading to deadly consequences. .
after ever happy (2022)
Coming to Netflix: December 25th
The third and final SVOD debut on this list is after ever happythe fourth entry in the incredibly popular teen romantic comedy movie franchise.
Whether this movie fully appeals to you will depend on your experience with the first few. If you didn’t like any of the above, you certainly won’t like this one.
Unfortunately, Netflix is not the best place to watch all the After more movies, since the first one recently left the service, but numbers 2 and 3 are still available.
prisoners (2013)
Coming to Netflix: December 10
The only non-SVOD debut we’ve included on this list is Prisoners, the 2013 mystery thriller from the director of Dune Y bladerunner 2049Denis Villeneuve.
Starring Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal, the film is about the kidnapping of two girls in Pennsylvania and the search for the alleged kidnapper by police and a desperate father.
The film was not a huge success at the box office, but it was a critical delight, even appearing in The best of the year according to IndieWire.
