  • The union and the ‘conselleria’ are making progress but will continue negotiations on Tuesday to settle the “technical” problems

Nor today the union Metges of Catalonia succeeded in reaching any agreement with Salut canceling the strike planned for the days 1, 2 and 3 February. Both parties will continue to negotiate this Tuesday at 9 a.m. in the morning. The positions, recognizes the union itself, are to get closer and tomorrow they will be addressed “more technical” problems, but Nothing has been closed yet.

Nevertheless, for the moment the stop is maintained of this Wednesday, Thursday and Friday throughout the Catalan Public Health, both in hospitals and in primary care centers (CAP). Doctors already went on strike last week, days 25 and 26, with a follow-up of the same more than considerable.

The union is asking for two basic things: putting a limit to doctors’ diaries and a salary supplement on the payroll apart from the rest of the toilets, which have already signed the concerted health agreement (the Siscat) and from which the Metges de Catalunya have distanced themselves. And the union is closer to achieving it.

“For us, it was essential to establish a framework with very explicit guarantees, without any kind of crack. This resulted in several breakups [en la reunión de este lunes]. After the last, we finally have a frame where all the the legal aspects”, underlined the general secretary of the union, Xavier Leonart, This Monday after half past seven in the afternoon.

Once this point was reached, the Metges de Catalunya and the ‘conselleria’ continued to debate the “Contents”. “We established the Agenda [médica] and in this sense we met tomorrow for meetings of a more technical nature,” he acknowledged.

They also discussed, during this Monday’s meeting, the “economic measures”. “We looked for a document be comfortable for all parties and find a laces and essential guarantees”, explains Lléonart. However, he assured that this week’s strike would continue, as well as the planned mobilizations by the union later. “Let’s go game by game” Lleonart said, calling on reporters to wait until tomorrow to find out if the shutdown is overturned.

“Under no circumstances are the negotiations broken off but a lot of work remains to be done. We don’t rule anything out. For now, the strike continues: there is no written agreement on paper that leads us to call off the strike,” he said.

last week’s strike

The medical strike in Catalonia started last week. On the first day, January 25, some 9,500 doctors took to the streets to demonstrate, and the next day around 5,000. However, the two days of strike had a similar follow-up in hospitals and CAP: 70% according to the union and 30% according to Salut.
