The City denounced those involved and will demand payment of $100 million

In the last few hours, the Government of the City of Buenos Aires presented a criminal complaint to investigate the incidents and destruction caused in the vicinity of the National Congress after the approval of the Omnibus Law. The presentation was made by the Ministers of Justice, Gabino Tapia, and his Security counterpart, Waldo Wolff, at the request of the Head of Government, Jorge Macri, before the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the City.

“We said we were going to file a complaint and we did. We will claim them the cost of all damages because we are not going to allow a few vandals and criminals to destroy the City,” the current Head of the Buenos Aires government asserted energetically.

In the presentation, the officials urged the prosecutor to promote the corresponding preparatory criminal investigation and to arrange all those conducive to clarifying the fact and identifying those responsible.

Meanwhile, Waldo Wolff, Minister of City Security, added: “We request that the commission of the crimes and contraventions committed on February 2 of the current year be investigated and those responsible be identified and punished.”

According to the complaint filed this Saturday, “various public assets of the City were vandalized, fire was discovered in wooden fences on public roads, as well as garbage cans and containers, tiles on the sidewalks were broken, in order to throw blunt objects to police personnel,” they stated in the letter.

In addition, “vehicle circulation was obstructed, police personnel and other security forces who were engaged in the task of ensuring public order were attacked in various ways, and various people were hindered from leaving the Congress building.”

And it was added: “All this can be easily observed in the various photographs and films that, regarding what happened, have appeared in various media.”

Furthermore, in said presentation it was requested that “as those responsible for the various illegal acts that are the subject of this complaint are identified, the corresponding intimation of the facts is formulated. And, in turn, that their identity be reliably made known to the presenters, for the purposes of being able to initiate the pertinent pecuniary claims due to the various effects on the City’s public treasury that their conduct has caused.”

Through a post on her social networks, Patricia Bullrich, Minister of National Security, reported that 18 people were detained and warned: “We are going to go into the cause thoroughly, investigate each of those involved and request the expulsion of the two Chileans participating in this disaster. “He who makes them, pays for them,” he says.

In the publication, he detailed that there are two Chileans involved in the excesses, one of them with a history of violence in their country, and that they will request their deportation.

The acts of greatest vandalism were recorded hours after the deputies gave half-sanction to the Omnibus Law, discussed for several days in Congress.
