The fraternity announced a train stoppage for next Wednesday to demand salary increases, before the “the lack of equal discussion” and from an “adequate salary proposal” to a “galloping” inflation.

It’s a statement signed by the general secretary of La Fraternidad, Omar MaturanoIt was reported that the force measure was the result of a meeting held this Friday and that the strike will take place on Wednesday, February 21 from 0 to 24 hours.

“In a meeting on 02/16/2024 it was decided to exercise the right to strike (Art. 14 Bis of the CN), on February 21, 2024, from 00:00 to 24 hours; in response to the lack of equal discussion and a salary proposal appropriate to the rampant inflation that deteriorates the salaries – which are food-related – of train driving personnel, causing them irreparable damage,” the document details.

Likewise, the union that brings together locomotive and train drivers indicated that the measure will be adopted “within the explicit recognition of Argentine constitutional law since as General Perón said ‘within the law, everything; outside the law, nothing'” .

In dialogue with Crónica TV, Maturano detailed: “We have just started discussing with the previous government to close the joint ventures on March 31, 2024. The previous government gave us an increase in November of 10%, then calculating in December 9% and we were out of step. In December, January and February we were going to sit down and discuss to close annual joint negotiations.”

“When we went to the first meeting with this Government…You saw that they are versers…With this about no money, not this or that, but the tickets increased, the cost of living increased, they killed us with the worker’s pocket. We went to claim what belongs to us,” he noted.

Along these lines, the union member acknowledged that “for many years” they have been running “behind inflation” and explained: “It is not that now we want to move forward but that they give us the (money) that they owe us. “We are talking about them owing us 55%.”

Asked about the possibility of backing down with the force measure in case an agreement is reached before the strike date, he responded: “No. Did you see that Milei says that there is no money…Well, this is not going to happen.” change. We are going to go to the last resort.”

“First (Juan Domingo) Perón said it and then (Javier) Milei repeated it: ‘within the law everything, outside the law nothing’. We are going to comply with everything we have to do and there we will see what happens,” insisted Maturano, who clarified that the measure of force will be “at the national level.”

Along these lines, the railway leader highlighted: “We do not expect it to be just La Fraternidad or another union. We want a national strike, but at the national level of our beloved CGT. I hope they fold, but we decide but we decide for ourselves. The “other union organizations will do what the organic bodies tell them.”
