Union Berlin coach Nenad Bjeliça, was the protagonist of one of the most regrettable images of the Bundesliga match against Bayern Munich, played this Wednesday at the Allianz Arena. The Croatian coach was involved in an altercation with the Bavarian player Leroy Sané, whom he touched in the face on two occasions, which cost him his expulsion.
The referee of the match, Frank Willenborg, did not hesitate for a moment to show the red to the former player of Albacete, Betis and Las Palmas, among other teams. It happened in the 74th minute of the game, after a ball went over the touchline next to the Union Berlin bench. Sané went to pick up the leather but Bjeliça, who had taken it, pushed him away.
Soccer player and coach exchanged allegedly foul words. The latter, visibly angry, slapped the Bayern player. Although some of those present tried to separate them, the attack was repeated, so the referee decided to send him to the stands and, in turn, caution Sané with a yellow card.
Nenad Bjeliça became coach of Union Berlin last November, after the dismissal of Urs Fischer. The Croatian is trying to recover the Berlin team, which is struggling to avoid the last places in the Bundesliga. However, a sanction now awaits him for his scuffle with Leroy Sané.
