Urban Meyer sure sounds like a man who’s done hanging around on the fringes.

Meyer, who currently works as an analyst for Fox Sports, is a college football coaching legend, having won three national championships in his career as the head coach of the florida gators and the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Meyer lasted just 13 games as head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2021, fired following a 2-11 record and multiple off-field controversies.

And while Meyer has previously stated that he “has no desire” to return to coaching, speculation about his return to college play persists.

Meyer closed the speculation on Thursday.

“I’m done. I’ve retired. I had some health problems at Ohio State,” Meyer said when asked what made him want to take the job in Jacksonville. “Fifty five [years old] It was always my goal. My family deserved it. We worked very hard for 38 years.”

“And I had it all planned out,” Meyer continued. “I found the right guy in Ryan Day, who is fantastic. And I retired, went to Fox, was an AD assistant for two years, and then I was approached by a few teams.
