As the harrowing search for Ramón Román (56) and Gabriel Raimann (38)the friends who disappeared in Pinamar on Sunday morning, while kayaking in the sea, Uruguay joined the operationat the request of relatives.

Ramón and Gabriel entered the sea through the nautical descent of valeria del mar, in an orange motorized kayak. They had oars and a life jacket.

The searches by air, sea and land, which as of this Wednesday had not yet yielded positive results, are led by the Undersecretariat of Emergencies of the Buenos Aires Government, the Naval Prefecture, the Argentine Navy and the municipalities of Pinamar and the Partido de La Costa.

The base of operations continues to be located at the Punta Médanos lighthouse, Partido de la Costa, the point that is considered more conducive to searching throughout the coastal area. From there, Firefighters and the rest of the units divide the areas to be raked.

Ramón Román and Gabriel Raimann met working as contractors on a construction site in the area.

“In addition, we are in direct and permanent communication with the National Emergency Directorate of Uruguay,” they said from the Municipality of Pinamar.

Why are they looking in Uruguay? Román’s family mentioned to municipal authorities that the missing friends could be near Uruguay, about 200 kilometers south of Punta del Este. Pablo, one of Ramón’s sons, received this “clue” from other fishermen.

A B-200 aircraft from the Argentine Navy, a helicopter, a coast guard ship, semi-rigid boats and jet skis, along with trucks on the ground and drones, complete the search operation.

On Tuesday, remains of a kayak were found and it is being analyzed whether it is the boat in which the friends left. The relatives did not recognize those objects.

The last trace that investigators have is a black Hilux truck, in which they traveled, which was parked in the beach area, near the slope that they would have used to enter the sea.

Román’s relatives described the relationship between these friends as “from a few years ago.” It arose because Ramón is a contractor and on one of his construction jobs he worked with Gabriel. Both, coincidentally, are from the province of Misiones. But Ramón has lived in Pinamar for 26 years and there he formed his family with Dora González, from whom he has already separated. Gabriel was stopping at his house and left from there on Sunday morning for a fishing trip that ended badly.
