One day after Javier Milei called him a “rider of failure,” Sergio Massa reappeared publicly in a meeting of its space, the Renewal Front. The former Minister of Economy and former presidential candidate for Unión por la Patria (UxP) led a delayed summit in Roque Perez, in which mayors and national and Buenos Aires legislators from that political space participated. There was analysis of current events, with special mention of the “defense of the middle class”, but no response to the President’s harsh accusation.

The meeting took place this afternoon in the Buenos Aires town of Roque Pérez, whose mayor is Massista Maximiliano Sciaini. The former head of Aysa, Malena Galmarini, 19 mayors, the seven national deputies of the FR, once Buenos Aires legislators and Buenos Aires party officials were present.

During the meeting, “concern about the drop in income, layoffs and proposals were discussed to defender of the middle class“, according to information from party sources.

In addition, the date was defined for the next national congress of the Renewal Front, which will be next March 22, and new leadership was promoted for the medium term.

The leaders who said they were presenting shared some photos on social networks, although almost without allusions to the epithet that Milei gave to Massa in the opening speech of ordinary sessions of Congress.

Only Malena Galmarini, former head of Aysa and wife of Massa, was very active on social networks to respond to the President, with a series of tweets that she published live during the libertarian’s intervention in Parliament.

“Threats and extortion. Grievances and lies. Circus, circus and circus. Let’s hold on tight because what is coming is not good at all. President, if you want to brutally adjust, do it alone. The Argentine Social Contract is found in the National Constitution. Read it. And “Don’t kid us,” was one of the messages that Galmarini spread on his Twitter account, the night before the Renovador Front summit.

Massa has maintained his low profile since the defeat in the runoff against Milei. He barely showed up at a meeting with Axel Kicillof and Máximo Kirchner at the end of December, a time when he also went out on his networks to promote the signing of the contract with a publisher to write his book.

Later, in the first days of January, he was seen at the headquarters of the Insurance Union, when he met with the CGT leadership prior to the 12-hour strike and mobilization against the mega DNU that Milei signed.

In addition, the 19 mayors of the FR were present: Javier Osuna (Las Heras), Juanci Martínez (Rivadavia), Maximiliano Sciaini (Roque Pérez), Blanca Cantero (President Perón), Juan Andreotti (San Fernando), Javier Gastón (Chascomús), Alberto Gelené (Las Flores), Pablo Gárate (Tres Arroyos) and Sebastián Ianantuony (Miramar).

Also participating were the mayors Marcos Pisano (Bolívar), Matías Nebot (Saavedra), Ricardo Marino (Patagones), Carlos Bevilacqua (Villarino), Sergio Bordoni (Tornquist), Darío Golia (Chacabuco), Freddy Zavatarelli (General Pinto), Miguel Gesualdi ( San Andrés de Giles), Facundo Diz (Navarro) and Francisco Echarren (Castelli).

The meeting led by Massa occurred a day after President Javier Milei described him as a “rider of failure” along with other leaders such as Juan Grabois, Máximo Kirchner and Pablo Moyano during his speech before the Legislative Assembly in Congress.

Massa thus resumed his political activity, while he is finishing his book and final details to “put the Encuentro foundation into operation” in the first weeks of March.
