An ideal beach day in Mar del Plata, with temperatures that exceeded 30 degrees, gave way this Saturday to a stormy afternoon which, for example, forced hundreds of tourists to quickly abandon their beachfront break due to adverse weather conditions that included strong winds and precipitation, as well as hail about some neighborhoods.

Although the Buenos Aires spa city was governed by a yellow alert and another short-term alert due to strong electrical activity and occasional hail, it was not until 5:30 p.m. that the sky turned leaden and it began to rain heavily.

The precipitation was accompanied by gusts of wind and hail. The thermometer, after this phenomenon, dropped considerably until it reached about 20 degrees.

Previously, when the situation had begun to get complicated, and after the appearance of the black flag, as Alfredo Rodríguez, the city’s new head of Civil Defense, explained to the site Now Mar del Platatourists and people from Mar del Plata who were on the beach enjoying the afternoon leaving the sand in search of shelter in the face of the climate phenomenon.

In videos collected by local media, hundreds of people are seen walking the way out of Playa Grande, along Paseo Victoria Ocampo, before the appearance of the first gray clouds and some thunder.

After the storm, which caused floods in some sectors of the city, as well as electrical service outages, the networks were filled with photos and videos with images of a reddish sky illuminating the city in the last minutes of the afternoon. But among those photos worthy of a painting, others that were somewhat nicer appeared.

One of them was the one taken by a user of X (formerly Twitter) in which you can see a sea lion inside the tents in Playa Grande.

The mammal, apparently, was very comfortable, despite the presence a few meters away of some people who dared to return to the sand. In fact, he is seen resting his head on a lounge chair.
