Maximiliano Pullarogovernor of Santa Fe, revealed that in recent days He had to “take” his family out of the city, due to the threats they received from prison in a new wave of violence in Rosario. “I’m sorry for what I put my family through, but I’m going to move forward,” said the radical leader.

“I left my family locked in the apartment where I live, which is small. Don’t have a good time. And now I took her out of the city, because I don’t think they have to deal with ten people in permanent custody, because you take those resources out onto the streets,” said Pullaro about the personal consequences of the escalation of violence in Rosario.

Since his inauguration as provincial leader, the governor has received intimidating messages, both for him and for the rest of his family. It happened after a tightening of prison conditions so that crimes are not committed from behind bars. Although it is not limited to him and those close to him, it also reaches the Santa Fe Security Minister, Pablo Cococcioni.

“I put up with it. I know what I got myself into.” and the actions we carry out,” noted Pullaro, on Friday, in dialogue with Telefé. “We are not going to allow criminals to do whatever they want from jail. And criminals who commit crimes from jail are going to go to different detention places, such as high-profile pavilions.”

He thus referred to the relocation of “high-profile” prisoners in pavilions with permanent monitoring, as well as the separation of “hitmen and drug traffickers” from “common prisoners.”

“This resulted in threats to me and my family. I’m sorry for what I put my family through. I had to take her out of the city until things calmed down,” Pullaro continued.

Among the measures, there is also a package of security laws to implement a special regime for those “high-profile” prisoners. The initiative has already been approved by the Santa Fe Legislature.

“We are not going to allow them to do whatever they want from prison,” the governor concluded.

The threats against Pullaro, his family and a minister

In the last weeks of 2023, three shootings were recorded. The attacks targeted a school, a hospital in Rosario and the ATM of a local branch of the Macro bank.

In two of these episodes, the attackers left threatening notes against Pullaro. A similar message was found in an operation against two people who were traveling armed on a motorcycle.

This Saturday morning, three teenagers who threw a Molotov cocktail at a bus in the north of Rosario were also arrested. They are 13, 15 and 18 years old. They carried an intimidating note against the Minister of Security. Investigators are analyzing whether they were recruited by a “mafia”, at the initiative of “high-profile” prisoners, to send a message against the provincial government.
