Pinedo will be Milei’s “sherpa” to “change” Argentina’s position at the G20

Little by little, the Government is confirming appointments in the State organizational chart and each time it is The arrival of leaders from a sector of the PRO is more notable: In the next few hours, former senator Federico will be made official Pinedo as head of the G20 Unit which, on paper, depends on the Foreign Ministry.

This is one of the “hawks” of the yellow party who had been “the shadow chancellor” of the presidential project of Patricia Bullrich.

Now he claims to have been summoned by Diana Mondino to occupy that position, within the framework of the political agreements that libertarians have made with a sector of the space founded in 2005 by Mauricio Macri. The current Minister of Security, without the consent of the former president, has promoted the incorporation of leaders he trusted to Defense but also to other portfolios.

The truth is that Pinedo will be, in fact, Milei’s “sherpa” with the objective of coordinating all of Argentina’s action in that exclusive world forum that this year will take place in Brazil. Between November 18 and 19, the long-awaited summit of presidents will take place, just as it happened in 2018 in Buenos Aires, on that occasion in an edition organized by the Macri government.

The Argentine representation in the G20 will add to the geopolitical turn that this administration intends to print, as was known this Friday when Argentina resigned from joining the BRICS bloc, an admission process that the previous administration had started.

In this sense, the brand new G20 Unit will try to “change the Argentine position” with the search for agreements with Western powers to, thus, promote foreign direct investment in areas such as infrastructure, energy and mining.

If the previous government sought to request in that international forum a reduction in the interest on Argentine debt before the IMF and question the very framework of the international financial system, in 2024 “collaboration” will be requested from the powers so that the Government can protect the future stabilization plan.

For Pinedo, who will debut in that forum on February 21 accompanying Mondino At the accompanying meeting of foreign ministers, it is an opportunity to “build trust” so that investments arrive in the country. In this sense, the greatest challenge will be to generate guarantees due to the distrust of the change in legal rules that the Argentine state usually incurs.

Privately, Pinedo is satisfied with the battery of reforms promoted by Milei and maintains that these substantial changes seek to break the corporate agreements that would impede the country’s development. “The DNU goes against the ‘job statute’“, he jokes about that system to which the President refers that, in his opinion, would have caused the stagnation in which Argentina finds itself.

For example, it is expected that the Vaca Muerta field and the gas pipeline works could generate investments of US$20 billion. But the government itself has raised doubts about the push for the continuation of the “Néstor Kirchner” pipeline with the aim of exporting gas to Brazil. and other countries in the region

Despite the rejections received by the aforementioned decree and the package of laws with which the President seeks to reset the economy and the rules of the game, the former senator maintains that the current administration is preparing “the ground” for a stabilization that would seek to defeat the inflation. It won’t be an easy road. “Success leads,” he previously answers the doubts that the disruptive package promoted by the President generates in governance.

Other landings of PRO figures

The truth is that Pinedo’s arrival at a secretariat of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs joins the landing of other PRO leaders to the LLA government: the Undersecretary General of the Presidency has arrived Mariano DeLorenzi that will replicate the work he did for Macri during his time at the Casa Rosada. But the lack of official appointment of him causes a shortage of products at these times, both in the dining room and in the cafeterias, which endangers the relationship with suppliers.

This Tuesday, there could also be moments of tension similar to those recorded in January 2016 at the doors of the Government House because “fingerprints would fall (fingerprints from entry controls)” of those employees whose contracts were discontinued by the current administration.

In Human Capital, meanwhile, it was incorporated Rodrigo Aybar, a leader of Mayor Diego Valenzuela’s kidney (Tres de Febrero), among other leaders linked to the “yellow party.”
