Spanish athletics ends the year with a good taste in the mouth, a silver and a bronze in the San Silvestre Vallecana professionally carved with the names of Mo Katir and Aarón Las Heras. I couldn’t, however, with the Ethiopian’s final growth spurt Berihu Aregawiwhich imposed one more point of speed starting at kilometer 8.

In the women’s category, Ethiopian Ababel Yeshaneh won, ahead of Asmarech Anlay and Likina Amebaw.

The San Silvestre Vallecana, the largest in which 40,000 runners gather, began around five in the afternoon, with the gradual starts of the popular race. Regulars of this event gathered, many of them in costume, to say goodbye to the year in the healthiest way possible.

In the popular race there were also podiums. In the men’s category, Nicolás Cuestas (28:48, new record for the event), Mohamed Massat Bouzahar (29:22) and Jorge Soto (30:28) won. In the female category, the fastest were: Lorena Lorenzo (34:30), Cristina Giurcanu (35:12) and Elena Silvestre (35:24).
