Torremolinos prohibits the use of fireworks to protect a vulnerable population

he Torremolinos City Council (Málaga) has recalled the existence of a side by which prohibits the use of fireworks in the municipality with the objective of protect minors with autism spectrum disorder, babies, seniors and petsthat are affected by the noise caused by this type of articles.

Specifically, the side signed by the mayor, Margarita del Cid, established as its purpose to ensure the safety and tranquility of children with autism spectrum disorder, babies, elderly people and animals in the urban environment and, in general, neighbors and visitors.

Thus, they have indicated that “unless expressly authorized by the City Council, it is prohibited to carry lit fuses and shoot firecrackers, rockets and all types of pyrotechnic articles that may produce noise or fire.” The side warns of sanctions for this purpose included in the municipal ordinance of the Regulation of Pyrotechnic Articles and Cartridges, which contemplate financial fines, as well as the seizure of the material that is the object of the infraction.

The suspension of the activity or the closure of the establishment is also contemplated, in addition to the provisions of the Circular of November 25, 2014, of the Delegation of the Government of the Junta de Andalucía. They have pointed out that the Local Police will ensure compliance with this side.
