‘Tour de France: Unchained’ renewed for season 2: it will arrive on Netflix in 2024

One of Netflix’s many new sports docu-series set to premiere in 2023 has received a Season 2 order. Tour de France: Unchained it will return for a second season in 2024.

Debuting on Netflix for the first time in early June 2023, Tour de France: Unchained gives you unparalleled behind-the-scenes access to the world’s most famous cycling race. The documentary series was released in French audio with a variety of subtitle and dubbing options, including English.

Eight episodes were released globally (after airing on France Télévisions) on June 9. The series ranked in the top 10 of non-English-language television for a single week, amassing 8.2 million hours watched worldwide between June 11 and 18.

The news of the renewal comes through a Tweet from Netflix France. The Tour de France followed Netflix France’s announcement in an additional Tweet, saying:

“See you next year @NetflixFR! A series made possible thanks to @francetv and the cycling teams!”

Season 2 will follow the upcoming 2023 Tour de France, scheduled for starts end of July 2023. The event takes place during 21 stages starting in the north of Spain and ending in Paris; 22 teams have been confirmed to compete for the grand prize.

the renewal of Tour de France: Unchained it means that we will see the return of numerous sports documentaries in 2023. fully operational, Formula 1: drive to survive, and breaking point all have received renewal orders, each slated to return in 2024. All of the shows mentioned above (including Unchained) are produced by British outfit Box to Box Films.

Those returning series are in addition to other sports documentaries Netflix currently has in the works for other sports like soccer, the NFL, rugby union, and WWE.
