A 17-year-old boy died this Tuesday as a result of the violent storm of rain, wind and hail that hit Miramar in the afternoon.. There are destroyed graves, blown-off roofs, fallen trees and power outages.

The victim was taken to Interzonal Hospital of Mar del Plata, where he died shortly after arriving.

The young man was a resident of the town. He was walking near his house, in the Los Pinos neighborhood, when a large branch fell and hit him on the head. He received emergency assistance from family and neighbors, before being transferred to the Miramar Municipal Hospital.

Given his serious health condition, it was decided to transfer him to Mar del Plata to undergo surgery. “His death occurred in the middle of surgery,” indicated sources from the Interzonal Acute Hospital of Mar del Plata.

The rain began to fall with intensity after 5:30 p.m. and this put local firefighters on alert. After the passing of the storm, personnel are working to assist those affected and deal with the material damage caused.

In addition, the inclement weather caused trees to fall in the streets of the spa city, located about 50 kilometers south of Mar del Plata. Sectors of the town are without electricity supply.

Municipal sources confirmed that “the ‘Micropreneurs’ tent located at the intersections of Avenues 26 between 23 and 24, was completely destroyed and the immense tarp that covered it perched on the top of the trees.”

According to the meteorological agency, strong storms with gusts of wind and possible hail are expected for Mar del Plata, Mar Chiquita, Villa Gesell, Necochea, Tandil, Balcarce and other cities.

For Wednesday, it is expected that the yellow alert that was in effect throughout Tuesday – in the coastal area – for Pinamar, Villa Gesell, Mar Chiquita, General Pueyrredón (Mar del Plata) and General Alvarado will no longer be in force.

In Miramar, it is predicted that the storms will continue, in isolation, during the early morning hours. In the morning the sky will be partly cloudy. In the afternoon there will again be a possibility of precipitation and electrical activity. On Wednesday night, meanwhile, the sky will be partly cloudy. The maximum temperature will be 22 degrees, while the minimum will be 14 degrees.

For Thursday, the sky is expected to be partly cloudy, with temperatures ranging from 13 to 22 degrees.
